COVER "Jesus Be The Center" by Israel Houghton

Christian life testifies that Jesus Christ is the center. We look to Christ in every way because through Him we get to the Father: through Him we gain salvation. Jesus' perfect love shown for us when He died on the cross fulfilling the prophesies of old to make a way for us, broken and wretched sinners, to meet, to know and to be loved by the God and creator of the universe, the King of Kings. When the song says "Nothing else matters" it doesn't mean that "nothing matters" in a physical sense, but that Jesus, through his death and resurrection made a way for us to know the gracious God of love who speaks through His word the Bible. This means that as Christians, we seek a higher pleasure; to glorify Christ who glorifies the creator. When Christ is in the center of our lives (churches, families, relationships, friendships etc.), it shows. We love like Christ did, we forgive like He did, we endure like He did, and we enter into the eternal life that He bought for us, and promises for us, on the cross.

I aim to live my life with Christ at the center. To (metaphorically speaking) connect to the vine of Christ (John 15) so that I may be a fruitful branch bearing the fruit of the spirit which are "love, joy, peace, patients, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control" (Galatians 5: 22b-23a). "Against such things there is no law" (Galatians 5:23b). Who can deny the desirability of these things? Look simply at their inverses; hatred, despair, chaos, anxiety, malignity, animosity, treachery, mercilessness, rashness to name a few ... violence, anger, malice, depression, addiction etc.

We never welcome THESE things into our lives? The fruit of the spirit is genuinely desirable, and I testify, along with countless other Christians, that it comes from placing Christ in the center. I’m not talking about simply adhering to our religious practices (showing up, getting baptized, standing up, singing, sitting down, saying your prayers, listening, taking communion, getting confirmed, giving tithes and offerings, serving, going on missions etc.) but genuine Christcenteredness. This is the fruit of the spirit of the Living God we are talking about! It doesn't come from Christian religiosity. It comes from God! The breath of life from the giver of life.

“Jesus at the center of it all. From beginning to the end, You will always be. it has always been You, Jesus .... Nothing else matters! Nothing in this world will do! Jesus, You’re the Center! Everything revolves around you!”

“Jesus be the center of my life! From beginning to the end, You will always be, it has always been You, Jesus ... Nothing else matters! Nothing in this world will do! Jesus You’re the center! Everything revolves around You!”

“From my heart to the heavens! Jesus Be the center! Yes! It’s all about You!”
“Jesus be the center of Your church! And every knee will bow and every tongue shall confess You, Jesus!”
